Coffee is a commodity that we always consume in our everyday life. It is part of everyday life that we take for granted where they came from.

The practice of selling coffee for pure profit has evolved into a better model of coffee production. This is called the fair trade organic coffee market.

Fair trade organic coffee are produced with the cooperation of multi-national coffee distributors and local farmers. Before, coffee was one of the many exploited natural resource. However, with this exploitation also comes economic hardship for farmers who harvest them.

The economic movement wherein companies support a better life for local farmers in developing nations. This is done through equitable pricing, community development projects, and environmental programs to maintain and stabilize the environment within and around the coffee plantations.

With this method, fair trade organic coffee not only produce the best coffee in the world, but also life family from poverty by giving an economic incentive to all.

All of us wins from fair trade organic coffee. Farmers can get a higher price for their harvest, make the most of economic assistance through economic programs, and better rural community for farmers. For distributors, they can sell fair trade organic coffee as a unique niche in an otherwise saturated market. There are also socially-aware customers who choose to buy fair trade organic coffee over others, allowing them to make more sales from these people. The vote of the dollar is strong in this industry.

Finally, fair trade organic coffee is in favor for the environment. Under this regulation, the exploitation of land is closely guarded. This will make it encouraging to come up with various methods to make a large amount of coffee and not have to clear more land for plantation. This increases the productivity of the land.

There will be more incentive for companies to stay the course as a result of them becoming more aware.

I live in Italy and I have to say that after being in Italy for 7 years, I finally discovered how to make the perfect cappuccino at home. This nespresso essenza could make a perfect cappuccino which exactly the same with what I would get it at my neighborhood coffee bar. The machine makes a dense rich espresso with a nice cream on top and the aeroccino makes a perfect thick foam. The aeroccino also heats the milk to the perfect temperature, and you can easily clean up this machine. The machine is little in size which is a plus in a tiny Italian kitchen. At first I wasn’t so convinced on being committed to buying only Nespresso capsules, first for the price and second for the quality of coffee. Then I recalculated that I spend 1.10 euro at the bar every morning compared to .34 euro for make it at home….hence a definite savings. Plus the quality of coffees they offer (12 varieties in total) happens to be excellent! I’ve noticed that all of the Italians here also have this espresso machine in house. So if the Italians say it’s good, and they’re passionate about their food and drink, it’s got to be good. I’ve owned several machines over the years and Nespresso essenza is truly THE BEST!!

Nespresso Essenza C-100 Espresso Machine is simply amazing. Nespresso C100 is specially designed for coffee filled capsules. The single serve automatic espresso machine prepares a perfect cup of espresso by perforating the sealed capsule and soaking all the ground coffee to optimally filter the coffee, while its high pressure 19 bar pump fully extracts the aromas and gives body to the Espresso. This ensures a smooth creamy top layer. With its unique extraction system designed specifically for coffee-filled capsules, this single-serve automatic espresso machine prepares a perfect cup of espresso every time. The unit perforates the hermetically sealed capsule and soaks all the ground coffee to optimally filter the coffee, while its high-pressure 19-bar pump fully extracts the aromas and gives body to the espresso, ensuring a smooth crema–the delicious creamy layer on top. In addition, the machine’s ThermoBlock heating system heats water to an ideal extraction temperature, and the amount of coffee in the cup can be controlled automatically or programmed in (40 ml for espresso; 110 ml for lungo) with simple coffee-volume buttons. Used capsules eject automatically into the used-capsule collection container (14-capsule capacity) upon lifting the lever on top of the unit.

Several information that you should know for about Nespresso Essenza

The Nespresso C100 US-AERO-B Essenza automatic single-serve espresso machine is a great machine for the busy home as it is so simple to use and it brews coffee goodness in no time.

To brew an espresso, just fill up the water reservoir, turn the machine on, drop in a Nespresso capsule into the machine, wait for the lights, and push the espresso or latte button. That is as complicated as it gets! And if you want a latte, you just froth up the milk using the milk frother which comes with dosage indicators inside the jug to help you measure the milk. The frother can also be used to make hot milk for a hot chocolate as well. The design of this machine has also been very thought out, and it also comes with a stay-cool handle, drip-free spout, and cordless design (lifts off its power base) to ensure a graceful and no mess pour into your cup.

The Nespresso Essenza c100 uses the pod system, meaning you have to buy the Nespresso coffee capsules, rather than buying any ground coffee from the supermarket. This may turn people away from this machine, but bear in mind, that this means less cleaning! The pods come in a variety of different flavors and each cup of espresso costs around $0.52 per cup compared to $0.30 for ground coffee. In my opinion, the extra $0.22 per cup to not have to clean, is worth it. Also, the coffee tastes so good, you won’t need to stop by the cafe on your way to work to get your caffeine fix, so in a couple of months, this Nespresso Essenza C100 should pay for itself.

With its sleek design, the Nespresso C100-US-AERO-B Essenza takes up minimal counter space in your kitchen and in my opinion, a necessary addition to any caffeine addicted household.

At the the top of the list of types of espresso makers is the “super automatic espresso machine“. A more accurate category description might be “the super awesome super automatic espresso machine”.

    One Touch Ease of Operation

As the name implies, these machines do just about everything you need in order to create a perfect shot of espresso, automatically, at the touch of a button. It will fresh-grind your preferred roasted whole bean espresso; it will place the precise quantity of espresso grounds in the brew group–based on your flavor and strength preferences; it’ll perfectly tamp down the ground coffee; it will heat the water to the precise temperature that you’ve pre-set; it will use the exact amount of water that you have pre-set based on your personal taste preferences; and of course it will then brew and deliver a shot of espresso just the way you like it. It’s not done yet. After brewing it will get rid of the used grounds in the brew group and deposit them within the dump box. All automatically!

You Can Learn to become an At-Home Barista!

Nowadays more individuals are choosing to make their own espresso beverages at home instead of spending $4 or more at their local caffe bar. However, they have become really attached to the high quality and taste of brewed espresso drinks from their preferred neighborhood caffè joint, even Starbucks. Is this an Issue? Not at all. Thanks to today’s well designed, engineered, and crafted European espresso machines the home barista can produce a latte or perhaps a macchiato every little bit as great, and maybe even much better, than at Starbucks.

There are lots and lots of super automatic espresso machines on the market today, created by many different companies, but quality and cost differ quite a bit. This can make it a bit challenging to select the best machine for your requirements and budget.

Following is a brief summary of features that can be found on an espresso machine that fall into the “super automatic” category:

    Water Use Control

This is a programmable feature which allows you to choose and control the amount of water that is dispensed per drink, depending on whether you’re making an espresso or a crèma.

    Pre-Grinding

This function will have your coffee beans already grinding while you make one shot of espresso so they are prepared for the next shot.

Moistening the Ground Coffee Grounds Before Brewing

This feature will lightly spray the coffee grounds just prior to brewing. This begins to leach out the aromatic and flavorful oils from the coffee.

    Temperature Control

Some people like their coffee to be served a little cooler than others. Please note that espresso is typically brewed at a lower temperature than regular drip coffee.

    Adjustable Dosing

This function will allow you to control the taste and strength of your drink by increasing or decreasing the amount of ground used in a shot.

    Cup Warmer

A shot of espresso will probably be a lot better should you brew it directly right into a warm cup. Whenever you brew your espresso drinks into a cold cup it drops the temperature of your drink too much.

    Water Filter Systems

This is really a nice function because the removal of minerals and chlorine from your drinking water will make your coffee taste much better. Only Jura-Capresso includes a built-in drinking water filtration system.

    Grinder Settings

Being able to adjust your grind will really permit you to customize the taste of your coffee. If you grind too fine your coffee will be bitter; should you leave it too coarse it will result in a weak cup of coffee.

    Bypass Doser

This handy feature makes it easy to brew a cup of coffee using different coffee than is in the hopper. If, for instance, you really feel like a cup of decaf in the evening you can make one by pouring pre-ground decaf beans into the bypass doser. This way you do not need to turn your machine upside-down to empty the bean hopper to put in different beans.

    Double Boilers

If you have a double boiler system, and you are making a latte (for instance) you will not have to wait around, whilst your espresso cools off, for the system to re-heat sufficiently to produce steam to froth your milk. You’ll by no means have to settle for drinking a cooled off cappuccino again!

    Digital Display

The digital or Liquid crystal display displays will display you in plain english what’s going on with the machine, and even what needs to be done, like adding water, adding beans, or emptying the dump box.

    Good Machines Aren’t Cheap

Some, but definitely not every super automatic espresso machine includes all of these features. The more features included will cost more; the fewer functions included will cost less. Don’t be fooled by lower priced machines that appear to be feature-rich. Generally speaking they will not be made as well, will require service much more frequently, won’t last as long, and most importantly, they won’t make a very high quality shot of espresso. Buying a cheaper, lesser quality machine generally ends up costing you more in the long run, and you won’t be enjoying espresso beverages like you ought to be.

Roasting coffee at home is really quite a simple concept however there is a huge margin for error. If you like to experiment with different blends of coffee home roasting is a good way to do this but it will take some pratice. Bear in mind, when you have developed your roasting skills a quality machine such as the Jura Capresso ENA 5 will still be needed if you want quality drinks.

Oven roasting your own coffee beans is an easy concept. You will need to be able to expose the beans evenly to air that is the temperature of at least 400 degrees for 5-10 minutes. You’ll have to know the correct time to cool them down. Although this may sound easy it is sometimes difficult to tell when to stop the roasting and also keeping the beans from roasting unevenly.

To start a new roast you will need a perforated surface that is oven proof such as a normal petal like vegetable steamer. Myself I bought a big pizza pan with small holes in the bottom. You need to use something perforated so that the air can flow around the beans more evenly.

Layer a thin layer of green beans on the surface of your pan or steamer (if using a vegetable steamer you can fit a thin layer of approx. 3 oz. of beans). The layer of green beans can be up to 2 beans deep.

Your oven needs to be preheated to 425. Once your oven is up to temp place your green beans into the oven in a central location such as the middle of the middle rack. You will need to set a timer for ten min.. If you have a sample on hand of a roast that you like it will be helpful as a reference color.

Shortly the coffee will start to release bound moisture because of the heat and you will start to hear crackling. After 1-2 min. of the crackling sound it is a good time to check on the shade of the beans.

You will want to only open the oven door just long enough to see the color because roasting beans do not smell very good and smoke a ton. Every few minutes you’ll want to check the beans till they reach a shade just a little lighter that the desired shade.

The reason you want to pull the beans before they are the final color is because they will continue to cook and darken while they cool. If you can place your beans in a protected area outside to cool so the smell doesn’t fill your entire house.

Don’t worry if your beans look a bit uneven or darker in spots than you were trying for. Your home roast will still taste better than any stale grocery store bought bean that is available.

Once a week I roast beans, let them cool and put them into my Jura Capresso ENA machine to use (I own the ena 5 cherry red… I love it).

    Delonghi 6600

When the first time I saw the espresso mchine, I wanted one with the greatest features of the money. By comparing what some models have and other models don’t, you will be able to make a priority list of a machine you really long for. In the end after comparing Cuisinart, Lello, and Gaggia, I ended up with the Delonghi Esam 6600 Gran Dama.

I bought my very first espresso machine with little money only due to I was still new in the coffe brewing game. I was still good but quite much featureless as far as that end of it goes. I found that buying coffee at a local coffee shop regularly is a waste of money, so i think of investing the money on a home espresso machine. I am so glad that I did finally get a nice full featured machine like the Delonghi Esam6600 Gran Dama for my home espresso, latte, and cappuccino.

Here are a few things you’ll want to look for in an espresso maker for your home use:

    • fifteen bar pumping system
    • a built in burr grinder with multiple grind choices
    • a milk container for frothing and steaming
    • fully programmable
    • warming plate
    • several choice of coffee size (large, medium, or small)
    • dishwasher safe parts
    • an extremely stylish sleek design and compact size
    • even heat distribution throughout beverages
    • a super automatic shut off and built in clock and timer
    • you can choose coffee brew strength

The investment into the Delonghi Esam6600 Gran Dama paid off, and although I have not used some of the other models first hand, I am very happy with my purchase. The money I save buying coffee house beverages is worth giving them up to have the convenience of making my own at home any time I like.

Buy Delonghi ESAM 6600 now to get a special discount!

Espresso coffee makers come in different types, styles and price points. So how do you tell one from the other and what is the best coffee maker for your needs? Just look at any kitchen shop or department store and there’s a huge range of coffee making devices and machines.

But which will make you the great cup of coffee you deserve – even need! For most people budget is the biggest factor when selecting their next coffee maker. That doesn’t mean you have to compromise on quality or flavor but you do need to know a bit about each type of coffee maker so let’s see what’s what in the coffee making world.

    Coffee at a slow drip

Perhaps the most well known of the coffee makers, the drip coffee maker is in most kitchens in the US, as well as in most hotel rooms. There’s a whole variety that will allow you to make 1 cup, 6 or 12 cup pots, to semi programmable machines that can produce coffee to a schedule. Becoming more popular is the style that produces vacuum coffee pots that don’t need the heating element to keep the coffee warm.

The basis of the drip coffee maker is very simple. Coffee is placed in a filter basket and hot water is slowly passed through the grounds to produce the coffee. The filter basket is usually lined with a filter paper, but there are some that use a fine mesh instead. Whilst these are more eco-friendly (and you’ll never run out of filter papers) they may occasionally let some of the ground through.

These machines can produce a good cup of coffee reasonably quickly and cheaply but you’d never mistake it for espresso. If your set on getting an espresso on a budget then the next category may be for you.

Coffee bean origin is one critical factor in determining your gourmet brew. Note that it is the key geographical growth locations which give your coffee its distinctive flavor, as this has got to do with the original soil. The mineral rich volcanic soils of Hawaii give a very different taste sensation compared to those from Africa or South America. Coffees grown within an exclusive plantation yields better quality control.

    Solo Coffee Drinking

A growing trend in coffee drinking is producing individual cups of coffee. To fill this new demand, there are more and more one cup coffee makers appearing. The majority of these coffee makers use a single serving pod of coffee to make the cup. This is ideal for a home that only has one coffee drinker, or where different flavors of coffee are required.

Of course having specially packaged individual pods of different flavors and styles does come at a premium so using this type of coffee maker can work out to be more expensive that the other coffee makers.

There are ways to buy gourmet coffee, the most efficient of course is buying them online. But execute caution as to the authenticity of the sites and their services. Get word of mouth testimonials from fellow coffee drinkers. An authentic coffee club provides great samplers packages, overnight courier gourmet coffee service, members forum and tasters parties, and much more. And not to mention you can also get special member discounts for all your purchases

When it comes to discussing different coffee roasts it can be difficult because what could be one roaster’s Italian roast might be another roaster’s French. If you are hoping to make an excellent specialty drink you will have to use a better quality machine, one like the Delonghi bco130t combination coffee espresso machine.

First we have a light brown roast with a dry surface. This roast is also known as New England, light, or Cinnamon. This roast sometimes will taste similar to toasted grain because of the lightness of the roast.

The second roast is medium brown roast again with a dry surface.  Associated with the names regular, American, medium high, medium and brown, because this roast is a degree darker the grain taste is gone but the acidy is richer and more rounded.

The 3rd is also known as light French, full city, high, city, and Viennese. This roast exhibits a more rounded out flavor.  It is slight dark roast with a less acidic snap than the previous roast.

The fourth roast is dark brown displaying a surface which is oily. This roast has a bittersweetness to it but won’t have any acid tones. Some of the other names it is known as are: espresso, Italian, French, European, or dark roast.

The fifth roast is darker brown in color and contains oil patches on the surface.  There is some overlap between this roast and roast number four therefore it is known by the same names as the dark brown roast.  The bittersweet tang is still there but so are some acidy tones.

Lastly roast number six is a very dark brown almost black roast which is very shiny and oily. This dark brown roast has a bittersweet overtone and also an almost burned note to it.The acid tones are gone again with this roast. It’s known commonly as Spanish, heavy, dark French, or Neapolitan.

Again if you want the most from your beans whatever your favorite roast you will need a quality machine such as those by DeLonghi, of which my favorite is the Delonghi Combo Espresso Coffee Maker – BCO130T.

There are few drinks in the entire world today that are as well-known as coffee. Probably the most effective way to obtain caffeine short of the new energy drinks currently being marketed, coffee is definitely popular in many different places, from the home to the office, from small cafes to trendy eating places.

The history of coffee can be traced for just over a thousand years, a comparatively brief period of time when compared with alcoholic beverages, which have been consumed since prehistory, and tea, which extends back over one thousand years BC. Despite this, coffee has now spread across the world as a popular beverage. A short look at the history associated with coffee will show the way it has acquired its reputation.

    African Origins

The history of coffee as a beverage developed in Ethiopia some time during the ninth century. Legend suggests that herders in Ethiopia realized that their goats became especially perky after eating the fruits from a specific bush, and so got the notion to eat it as a stimulant. The reality is that coffee probably had already been produced as a drink by the 9th century as a natural consequence of cultivation of vegetation. From Ethiopia, the drink spread to North Africa, including Egypt.

    Middle Eastern Success

The introduction of coffee to Egypt made it accessible at places having trade with the rest of the Middle East, where coffee became a common beverage by the 1500s. Shortly after its introduction, authorities placed a ban on the beverage because of its stimulant qualities. However, much like prohibition in the US, the ban on coffee could not last and was later rescinded. At this time in history, though, tight regulations on the product were in position. Although coffee in its roasted form began to be exported to Italy as well as other European nations, export of the unroasted beans as well as plants was prohibited.

    Colonization And Coffee

This restrictive control covering the foreign trade of coffee plants didn’t survive. This period of the history of coffee concluded when Dutch traders smuggled coffee seeds out of the Middle East in the 1600s, where they were planted and grown on the island of Java, which is still a leading exporter of coffee today and also shares its name with the nickname for the beverage. Interestingly, as coffee plants spread to additional European colonies, another century in the history of coffee, in the 1700s, the plants were smuggled to Brazil, which happens to be still the largest exporter of coffee beans.

    Coffee in the US

A history of coffee in the united states follows that of early wars. Introduced there during the 1700s, the popularity of coffee did not take off until the Revolutionary War, when tea became scarce and colonists turned to various other beverages. The drink once more gained in popularity during the war of 1812 for the same reasons.

However, the period when coffee consuming developed to exactly where it was an American fixture is apparently during the Civil War, when demand was high enough so it grew to be a permanent fixture as a beverage in a great many American households. Through colonization and wars, the history of coffee seems to conform with that of the history of consumers, and its wide-spread reputation all over the world demonstrates that it’s genuinely a worldwide experience.
